Klein Designs is an embroidery studio based in New York specializing in custom embroidery and bespoke pieces, where each stitch tells a unique story.

Our clothes become special when we have a story to tell about them - it’s what makes them last. By allowing our customers to step into the designer’s role, we hope to provide an experience of customization that is truly personal and unique. Our mission is to help make clothes your canvas!

Born in 2020, Klein Designs was started by founder Alexa’s exploration of hand embroidery as a creative outlet during the pandemic. Her undergraduate studies in textiles and apparel at the University of Texas took her to Parsons Paris, and later to New York where she delved deeper into garments and discovered her personal style, which lends itself heavily to her creative process.

The brand has evolved from operating out of Alexa's college apartment in Austin, TX to solidifying its roots in a sunny studio space in Brooklyn - where we have developed our own distinctive clothing collection, collaborated with several brands and businesses, and opened our doors to customers for studio events.

embroidery process

All of our products are manufactured locally in NYC before coming to our studio. Our embroidery designs are then transformed into carefully crafted stitches by Alexa, and finally embroidered onto each piece by our small, but mighty team.

A note from Alexa

“Family has always been a huge part of my creative journey - from my grandma, who worked as a painter, my grandpa - an architect, my sisters who are both interior designers, and my parents' constant encouragement towards both my creative and business pursuits. Using my last name as the brand name was an intentional decision to honor this influence. Our current logo is actually derived from my grandpa's architecture logo which was originally created by a great friend and designer, Arthur Boden.”
